Facility Updates from Facilities Meeting - 25th November '08

On the evening of 25th November 2008, we came together to consider 5 possible options concerning the future for the church. Those options were;

1. Do Nothing  (permanently worship elsewhere)
2. Rebuild existing church as was
3. Don’t rebuild as was (build something else and permanently worship elsewhere)
4. Larger building on existing footprint
5. Reconfigure site

Information was presented concerning the status of the insurance claim along with an overview of the implications and cost ranges of each option. After a time of excellent questions and comments there was an overwhelming decision by the church to conduct further investigations into options 4 and 5 and not to further consider options 1, 2 and 3. (Should however an opportunity be presented within the search area for alternate church site this would be given consideration.)

There was also encouragement for the church to be mindful that community and spiritual growth comes in and through people not necessarily or automatically from a large church building, and care needs to be taken in resultant commitment to large debt.
