David is married to Gale. In his words, “We come as a package”. They have 2 adult children and live in Ourimbah.
David grew up within a Roman Catholic background in Zimbabwe / South Africa. As a young adult, he was disturbed by the prevailing violence and being in a society wherein “life was cheap”. He wondered whether God had “abandoned” the world. Many years later (c. 2013) he connected into NVBC, where God brought him, and now appreciates the “rich diversity in the types of people” he interacts with.
Existing church roles
David manages the finances of OSHC for NVBC and is part of the Car Park welcoming team at NVBC. He also has similar responsibilities with 2 chaplaincy organisations on the Central Coast.
David has retired from full-time employment. His last role involved working for OPTUS in the financial area and had previously worked for MYOB who developed accounting software and so has expertise with systems for managing and tracking money. David wants to be more than “just the finance guy” on committees.
David is committed to building consensus, as a decision-making process when he works on committees. He communicates well and has obvious concern for people.
He has spent time training and empowering people in Australia and overseas from different cultures and faiths.
