4th October 2024

"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains" - Jesus (Matthew 24)

In another week of escalating conflict in the middle East, these ancient words of Jesus ring ever true. They remind us, that as the people of God we are not called to respond with panic, anxiety, despair or defeatism. They remind us also that there is a day appointed where God will firmly, fully and forever establish his righteous Kingdom over which the Prince of Peace Jesus will reign forever.

As we wait for that day, we are called to remain watchful and prayerful - allowing our hearts to break for and over our world as we intercede for God's Kingdom to come, for His will to be done throughout the earth as it is in heaven. As we wait for that day, we are filled with urgency and purpose to live each day in light of that day: worshipping Jesus wholeheartedly and seeking to reach our lost and broken world with the Good News of our Saviour!

Long Weekend @NVBC

Safe travels to all who are away or on the road this weekend! For those staying local, enjoy the extra spaciousness that a Long Weekend brings. To make the most of this:

After our AM Service, Travis will host a morning tea for anyone interested in becoming a ministry partner. There will also be a crew hanging out, connecting together and having some board games over lunch. Feel free to stick around for either, none or both!

In our PM Service, we will aim for a shorter service with a BBQ dinner together at the end!

News from Muana and Villy

More than once, they helped provide 100 meals to victims of the flood.

Early in September, Typhoon Yagi swept across south-east Asia, directly causing almost 1000 deaths. The accompanying rains caused catastrophic flooding, including in northern Thailand where Villy & Muana live.

Muana & Villy are assessing the flood-damage, both in Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, and want to help and support the families in their recovery. They have established a (tax deductible) Community Relief Fund project.

Water reaching the gate, but not entering their residence.

While their home was spared not all the Baptist Mission Australia team were so blessed. A special fund has opened (not tax deductible) if you want to help Margaret, Belle, Luke, Dema or Carolyn rebuild.

NVBC has been a long-term supporter of Muana & Villy who have been working with the Northern Thai people (look for Ban Sra & San Pa Tong on your map) since 2001. Learn more about this work here. Or talk to Danielle Lamrock. And look for their prayer points each month in The Harvest.

Pray with us: Cru Day Camp

It's here! Our first year of running a holiday day camp at NVBC in partnership with Crusaders and St Phillips Christian College starts on Tuesday. Please pray with us for an amazing week for our leaders and campers! Pray for good weather, great community and for God to move through the Gospel content and conversations that take place throughout each day. Our camp director Nick will be joining our PM Service this Sunday to lead a time of prayer for the week ahead.

This Sunday

This Sunday Travis will share on God's miraculous provision in Exodus chapters 15 to 18. Kids packs will be available, as will a Kids hang zone in the foyer throughout the AM message.
