What's your favourite Christmas movie (and why)?
This is week two of Advent Conspiracy. What are your reflections about week 1 (Worship Fully)? Have you found time this past week to focus on worship? If so, how did it go?
Where did you notice God this week? Do you have any stories to share?
Today is about spending less - how do you feel about that as a topic around Christmas time?
Watch this week's video:
The video talked about spending less - about budgeting and financial decision making. Was this a topic that was talked about openly in your family growing up? Is it something you find easy to talk about and think about now, or not?
How easily do you get caught up in the distraction of "needing more" or comparing yourself to what other people have? Why do you think that is?
Do you usually set a budget, or limit yourself in some way, when it comes to Christmas spending? (Try to avoid sharing specific $$ amounts with each other in answering this question)
The video talked about the heart connection between gratitude and spending. How do these two things link together?
What can you do practically this month to cultivate more gratitude in your heart?
Read Matthew 6:19-24
What does it mean to store up treasures in heaven? What might Jesus be thinking of here?
Do these priorities come easily to you? Why/why not?
What about spending in order to be generous towards others? How do you discern your own heart's motivation when you want to buy something or spend money on something at Christmas time?
End your time together in prayer. Pray prayers of gratitude, share your prayer requests, pray for each other, and pray specifically for God to give each person wisdom and they approach spending.
