Being the People of God

Last Sunday was our collection day for the recent food drive that will resource a local organisation working with homeless and vulnerable people on the Central Coast. On a week where we spoke about who we are as the church (a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession), how good was it to express who we are in this way!!

There was a beautifully generous response to the call for donations, so much that it filled an entire ute when it came time to transport them. Thank you to all who contributed.

From Health on the Streets: "Your generosity and support mean so much to us and to everyone who will benefit from the donations. The food and supplies will make a big difference for those experiencing homelessness in our community. We truly appreciate your kindness and commitment to helping us help more people."

Update from Northern Thailand

Last month we learnt how Typhoon Yagi caused catastrophic flooding in northern Thailand. A few weeks later, flooding returned, Chiang Mai’s worst in memory. Both the ZOE Complex and Muana & Villy's home were inundated. The last weeks have been focused on the clean-up work and helping others, and there is still more rebuilding to be done.

As specific reconstruction support projects are organised, we will keep you updated. In the meantime, if you would like to give, there is Baptist Mission’s (tax deductible) Community Relief Fund project here.

NVBC is a long-term supporter of both Muana & Villy and the ZOE Bible School. Muana & Villy work with the Northern Thai people. Learn more about this work here or talk to Danielle Lamrock. Learn more about the work of ZOE online or ask Chris Young about it. And look for their respective prayer points in The Harvest.

December at NVBC

As the end of the year draws closer, we have so much to celebrate, mark and be moved by as we remember the coming of the Messiah into the world. This year we are intentionally crafting multiple ways for us to have a meaningful, missional and worshipful Christmas season at NVBC.

We know everyone's diaries quickly fill up with all manner of work, school, family and sporting end of year events. So here are some of the key events planned:

  • Senior's Christmas Lunch Thursday Dec 5, at 10am

  • Kingdom Kids Takeover Sunday Dec 8, at 9:30am

  • Gingerbread House making Saturday Dec 14, at 2pm & 7pm

  • Community Carols Sunday Dec 15, at 5pm

  • Blue Christmas Service Thursday Dec 19, at 7pm

  • Christmas Eve Service Tuesday Dec 24, at 8pm

  • Christmas Day Service Wednesday Dec 25, at 9:30am

We invite you to be praying over the impact of each of these services and events, and to begin considering who you could invite along to which ones.
